The NC800 comes in chrome/silver. The NC900 comes in silver/red. The motor, auger, yield, warranty, and every other spec are identical. If you're debating between them, you're just picking a color. Stop overthinking it.
This is the real upgrade.
The NC1000HD has a 200W motor (vs. 150W on the NC800/NC900) and a 3-stage auger vs. single-stage. It's meaningfully better on dense root vegetables and hard produce. Costs $50–80 more at street price. Whether that gap justifies the upgrade depends on how you juice.
How We Got Here
Omega has been making horizontal masticating juicers under multiple model numbers for over two decades. The numbering system has never been intuitive. The original Omega 8004 and 8006 were the same machine in different colors. Same pattern. The 8005 and 8007 were updated versions. The 9000 — which still shows up in old forum posts and some buying guides — is a discontinued model that predates the modern NC line. Do not let anyone compare an old 9000 to the NC900; they're entirely different machines from different generations.
The NC ("Nutrition Center") line launched around 2012. Omega introduced the NC800 and NC900 as a color variant pair — same machine, two colorways. This has been the case since launch. The confusion persists because Omega's product descriptions are not written to make this obvious, and forum posts from people who didn't know this keep getting recycled.

When the upgrade is worth it
The 3-stage auger and added motor wattage make a real difference if you regularly process dense root vegetables — hard beets, turnips, dense carrots, sweet potato. The NC800/NC900 handles these, but the NC1000HD does it with noticeably more ease and slightly drier pulp on demanding produce.
For mixed daily juicing — apple, carrot, celery, greens — the NC800/NC900 performs comparably. The upgrade pays for itself if dense root veg is a core part of your routine.
